Moving Nutley Forward

A Commitment to Nutley’s Students

Serving on the Nutley Board of Education has been a great honor. We have taken meaningful steps forward, rooted in collaboration, and a shared commitment to doing what’s best for our children. I’m running for re‑election because I believe deeply in Nutley, in our students, and in the future we are building together.

Accomplishments That Moved Nutley Forward

  • Middle School Transition: Successfully launched Nutley’s new 6–8 middle school model, a community‑driven effort involving teachers, administrators, and families. → Built a stronger, developmentally aligned experience for our children.

  • Early Pre-K Childhood Center: Opened the Early Childhood Center at 777 Bloomfield Avenue, expanding access to high‑quality preschool. → A long‑term investment in Nutley’s youngest learners.

  • Student Opportunities: From AP growth, dual‑enrollment expansion and internships, to award‑winning music and arts programs, to championship athletic seasons, Nutley students excelled in every arena. Elementary and middle schools also showcased creativity, leadership, and community spirit through musicals, art shows, academic competitions, and wellness initiatives.

  • Despite statewide fiscal pressures and aging facilities, the district maintained its focus on protecting student programs and instructional quality. Transparent communication, careful planning, and collaborative problem‑solving helped Nutley move forward while managing real financial constraints.

Facing Challenges

My Priorities for Nutley’s Future: Nutley has made real progress, but there is important work still ahead. As a Board member, I’ve been focused on strengthening our schools in ways that directly support students, families, and staff. My priorities reflect what our community has consistently asked for: clarity, consistency, accountability, and long‑term stability.

  • Nutley needs stronger, more transparent academic, operational, and financial goals. Families deserve a clear “big picture” that shows how daily decisions connect to long‑term outcomes.

  • Consistent Instruction Across All Schools: By aligning curriculum, teaching practices, and assessments, we can ensure every student — in every school and grade — receives a coherent, equitable learning experience.

  • Better Communication & Follow‑Through: Timely updates and stronger follow‑through on district initiatives will reduce confusion, build trust, and help families stay informed and engaged.

  • Sustainable Financial Strategies: With aging facilities, rising healthcare costs, high utility rates, and unfair state funding pressures, Nutley must expand grants, shared services, and alternative revenue streams to reduce reliance on taxpayers and stabilize the budget.

  • Stronger Hiring & Vendor Oversight: Improving background checks, screening processes, and vendor accountability protects students and reinforces confidence in district operations.

  • Protecting Students & Defending Academic Freedom: Every student deserves a safe, respectful, discrimination‑free environment. Safeguarding students’ rights is not political it is a core value.
